jesuscalmsI was reading this morning in Mark 4, and near the end of the Chapter Jesus is back on a boat and other boats are around when an intense storm hits.  Everyone is freaking out…

What to do?  How can someone be so calm (Jesus!)?  I would be panicking!  I would pull out my phone to call my wife and say my goodbyes.  WE ARE GOING TO DIE!
Why on Earth is Jesus sleeping? Can’t He help? Let’s get this water out of the boat, otherwise we are going to sink!
“Someone, go wake Jesus up. We need all the manpower we have!”
Yet, Jesus’ response after he calms the storm to be something like, “Why are you guys scared?  It is just a storm. I got this.”
After witnessing this, I would be puzzled and not able to comprehend what just happened. Almost like when you witness an amazing Magic Trick. You just stare, not knowing what just happened. This doesn’t make sense.

This Made Me Think

If our Savior is in control of waves, seas, and whatnot; Doesn’t this give us confidence when we face the storm in our lives? When we lose our job, go through a breakup, etc.
Jesus says, “Do not be afraid, I got this. I will be with you.”
Now, this does not mean he will always quiet the storm in the way we want in that exact moment, but just knowing that God is in control and has the power to do so gives us confidence to go to him.
